From an ongoing series "Area Beyond This Sign Closed" that explores the relationships between the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge and the sprawl around it. There exists in art and literature, a trope of a landscape – particularly that of an American landscape – interrupted, fractured, by technology and machinery. Here the trope is reversed, as the swamp disrupted the anthropogenic sprawl surrounding it.
